Inclusion & Accessibility Policy

Last updated: [Month Day, 2026]

The Heritage Chamber of Commerce connects businesses and leaders across cultures, sectors, and industries throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Our roots are in the Hispanic and Latino business community, and our work is built for the full regional economy. This policy describes how we put that commitment into practice in our membership, programs, events, leadership, and digital services.

Non-Discrimination

Heritage does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, veteran or military status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. This applies to:

  • membership eligibility and member benefits;
  • participation in events, programs, cohorts, and committees;
  • board, committee, and volunteer leadership opportunities;
  • employment, contracting, and vendor selection; and
  • the business directory and other member services.

How We Practice Inclusion

  • Broad participation. We invite entrepreneurs, growing companies, corporations, nonprofits, public agencies, educational institutions, and professionals to take part in our programs and leadership.
  • Diverse leadership. We seek board, committee, and speaker participation that reflects the region we serve.
  • Supplier and partner relationships. We work with vendors, sponsors, and partners of every size and background, and we help businesses prepare for certification and contracting opportunities.
  • Language access. Programs and resources that are offered in Spanish are clearly labeled. When you need help in Spanish, contact us and we will do our best to assist.

Accessible Events

We choose venues and formats that allow full participation. If you need an accommodation to attend a Heritage event — such as accessible seating, a sign-language interpreter, captioning, materials in an alternative format, or dietary accommodations — please tell us when you register or email us at least [five (5)] business days before the event. We will make reasonable efforts to meet requests received after that date.

Digital Accessibility

We want heritagechamber.org to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technologies.

  • We design and test the Website to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
  • The Website supports keyboard navigation, visible focus indicators, text alternatives for meaningful images, captions or transcripts for our own video and podcast content where available, sufficient color contrast, and reduced-motion preferences, including controls to pause moving content.
  • Some content is provided by third parties (for example, embedded videos, event registration platforms, or partner documents). We encourage those providers to meet the same standards and will help you access the information another way when they do not.

Accessibility is ongoing work. If you encounter a barrier on the Website, please let us know which page and what happened, and we will respond within [five (5)] business days with a solution or an alternative way to get the information.

Respectful Conduct

We expect members, partners, speakers, volunteers, and guests to treat one another with courtesy and professionalism at every Heritage event and in every Heritage space, online and in person. Harassment or discriminatory conduct is not tolerated. Heritage may ask anyone who violates this expectation to leave an event, and may suspend or end participation or membership.

Reporting a Concern

If you believe you have experienced or witnessed discrimination, harassment, or an accessibility barrier related to Heritage, please contact us. Concerns are reviewed promptly and handled as confidentially as possible. Heritage does not retaliate against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
